Just over a month ago now, me and my girlfriend had an interesting couple of days where we decided to do a good deed by giving a lovely bunny a new home by rescuing him from horrible living conditions. This is the little guy and his name is Elric, named after the Fullmetal Alchemist characters Edward and Alphonse (because it's one of mine and my girlfriend favourite animes) and also because he's got funny hair that tuffs up at the top like Edward! So, Elric spend the first month or so of us having him at my girlfriend house, she already had 2 bunnies at the time and while having Elric she got another one. But she looked after him very well, and he was really happy but the main aim was to have him living with me. After weeks or preparing by getting a good sized hutch, and everything that needed, as well as sorting out matts and such so he could have a play area inside during the day, he finally came to live with me last weekend!! He's already settled in really well and loves spending his days inside (he normally gets around 4-5 hours work of inside play time). In fact, at this very moment he is flopped by my feet clicking his teeth away, which is a double sign for 'I'm having a good time/I'm very happy' :3 hah.
Elric has a Twitter account, as well as a Wordpress and Tumblr blog, all the links will be at the very bottom of the notes! Elric has a really nice, and lovely personality. All bunnies have different personalities believe it or not! Despite him coming from a very ill-treating home, he's a real people bunny, and love attention for anyone and everyone! He's also a bit of a digger, and likes to chew, throw and scratch at almost everything! He's not shy of showing when he's happy, by hopping around, doing big kicks and sometimes nearly rolling completely over when he's flopping and having a stretch.
Please consider saving a bunny or adopting one before buying a new one from a pet store, because the bunnies that really need homes will always love you that little bit more and I'm sure you'll love them more too knowing you've saved them and given them a good life. Thankfully I've been able to give Elric a good home, but there are plenty of other bunnies out there that aren't in suitable living conditions, whether that be in hutches that are too small for them or over crowding. Me and my girlfriend always see this sort of thing when we look around on websites, and it's just not right! If you're based in the UK, check out a website called Gumtree, as this is where we found Elric. There are always rabbits being put up on their for sales by owner who, and I quote, just want to 'get rid of them' and it's heartbreaking. I just hope this post can make even 1 or 2 people aware of this!
Bunnies are really underrated pets. They take a lot more looking after than most people realise, but they're cute and affectionate too and can be living with you for as long as cats and dogs sometimes, if they're properly looked after! I'm also going to make this picture of Elric freely available to download for you to use as your computer wallpaper, just because he's so cute!
